Engawa, a petite, luxurious and very Japanese restaurant, specialising in the delicacy of Kobe beef
alongside a stunning selection of fresh sushi and sashimi from an open kitchen.
Set within the heart of Piccadilly, Engawa is one of London's most authentic and traditional Japanese restaurants.
I love the ambience, very posh but with tight spaces and limited seating.
We opted for Wagyu beef, tuna and salmon sashimi.
They are beautifully presented.
Kobe beef was served with lightly cooked vegetables, with ponzu dressing and salt.
It's not just very tender, as other beef can be, it actually, melts away in the mouth as you eat, like no other meat I've tasted.
So heavenly!
I know it's pricey. Of course Engawa serves the genuine Kobe beef: banned from import, the most expensive and sought after beef in the world. It's produced under extraordinarily strict conditions. So it's complete rarity, "the caviar of meat".
In urban legend, these happy Kobe cows are played music, given beer to drink and massages all round. Blimey!
... and for pudding? we had Green Tea Tiramisu and it was sooo good that you wouldn't settle for just one so we ordered for more. Highly recommended!
All smiles for the best Wagyu in London! It doesn't look much at first but at the end it was just the right amount for dinner and didn't leave us feeling bloated.
So we still have space for coffee and cake at Caffe Concerto.
Glad to share this wonderful experience with my cousin Eugene who travelled all the way from the Philippines to visit us...
Thank you Kuya Eug! 💋
