AMSTERDAM

Amsterdam is one of the greatest small cities in the world.
From Amsterdam canals to world-famous museums and historical sights,
it is one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Europe.
Cycling is the best way to get around the city, exploring the city on a bike lets you see more in a day,
while blending in with the locals at the same time.
But unfortunately I don't know how to ride a bike, well it's not for me.
Pedalling along the labyrinthine streets can get a little chaotic as well
so I'd rather stick to walking and I won't be disappointed.

Amsterdam boasts an impressive public transport network which is a good thing including
metros, buses, trams, ferries and trains to help us get around the capital.
We bought the I amsterdam City Card which gave us unlimited use of the public transport for 72 hours.
The card also allowed us to travel to the nearby Dutch countryside such as Zaanse Schans, Volendam and Marken.

The Rijksmuseum.
The most popular museum of the Netherlands and I personally love this one!
It showcases the works of famed artists, Frans Hals, Vermeer and Rembrandt, just to name a few.
The Dutch love travelling by bike, as well as a means of transport as a hobby and exercise. You'll notice that there are an enormous amount of bikes in the capital city and see lots of people going about on their 'fiets' as they are called in Dutch. You even have to be careful not walking into one. 😜

The Red Light District
One of the first things, besides coffeeshops maybe, that tourists think of when thinking of Amsterdam, The Red Light District really has its own charm no matter what your personal views regarding the approach of sex trade in the Netherlands this is an area to be included in your list to visit and a must-see for any traveler. Naughty me, I am so giddy to experience it myself! There are approximately 250 windows in the district where curious tourists can "window shop".  If the curtain is closed that means there's a business going on inside. And hey don't take photos of the ladies as it might get you in trouble.

Dam Square

Leidseplein is the most popular square in all of Amsterdam. It can also be considered as Amsterdam's nightlife hub as you'll find many of the most popular cafes, bars, clubs and restaurants around the square or the surrounding streets. Coffeeshops, not to be confused with cafes, especially when you see the green five fingers logo. Amsterdam will definitely meet your *high* expectations! I didn't know what weed smells like till I visited Amsterdam. Oh my! I can smell it everywhere.
At the end of the day we ended up relaxing at the park with the locals, enjoying a nice cold drink and some stroopwafels (Netherland's delicacy).

Here's a video to wrap-up our Netherlands trip.
