It was a lovely day to visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa, located in the Italian town of Pisa, one of the most visited European cities.
It is a remarkable architectural structure from medieval Europe and famous for its unintended tilt.
The architectural oddity is definitely something I'd want to witness in person...
The Bell Tower of Pisa is next to the Cathedral in Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles).
As I explore the city, I learned that behind that famous tilt is a fascinating history:
*Pisa got its name in 600 BC from a Greek word meaning "marshy land"
*The Cathedral and Baptistery are also sinking
*Galileo was baptised in the baptistery in 1565
*There are several other towers in Pisa that also lean
*The foundation of the cemetery, Campo Santo, is made up of 53 shiploads of earth that were brought back from the Hill of Calvary in Jerusalem.
Woowww!
Of course my visit in this lovely city would not be complete without using the power of forced perspective
to capture some hilarious and creative Pisa moment photos.
The Tower up close...
You can actually climb up to the top!
That's right!
The most famous structurally unsound building in the world is open to visitors.
Seriously though, since its restoration and slight un-tilting, the structure's integrity is monitored constantly
and the building hosts large numbers of visitors everyday.
There are other things to do in Pisa too!
A visit to Piazza dei Cavalieri, Torre Guelfa and Riverside Art Gallery
...then a riverside walk.
There are great bars and restaurants to relax in after sightseeing.
